[it doesn't make sense, and most of it's not true.] Detailed, dense, intense, intelligent, insanely playful, yet surprisingly gentle, the music of Spontaneous Respiration catalyzes a stronger connection with the eternal for the listener.

About Last Layer of Analysis:

Thousands of hours of work and over 20 collaborators playing over 30 different instruments went into our new, 45 minute LP. From the initial sheet music played by classically trained harpists, flutists, pianists, etc…,
to the cut-and-spliced layers of inspired, improvised keyboards, upright basses, drums, etc.
     played by professional jazz musicians…,
to the down-to-earth indie-rock epic elements…,
to the added ambient noises and programmed glitches by electronic producers...,
to the massive mixing/production undertaking…,
to the final CD mastering through a completely custom, half million dollar signal chain,
     and incredible artwork/design...

let go of your anchors and your wings if you have to...and enjoy this universe.

The vibe is of gentle, intense, all encompassing, dark warmth. It is obvious that a lot of time and thought went into these carefully carved and calculated structures that collectively create the repertoire of Spontaneous Respiration. The Phoenix, AZ band attributes Mum and Mice Parade as inspiration. And if you haven't heard of those groups, think of The Album Leaf, Sigor Ros, Radiohead, or Bjork. Each cut includes several layers of morphing rhythms and flowing melodies, but these are only the foundation for cathedrals domed with kalimba, computer, cello, female vocals, guitars, wurlitzer, basses, bass clarinet, drums, udu, guzheng, live and preprogrammed samples, flute, etc., making the live performances an intriguing and engaging experience.
